Hello dearest SunYogis.
AND Hello beautiful spring weather.
In Term 3, there was a focus on including more energising pranayama (breath) practices. We always include a variety, but over these last few weeks of term, I hope you felt the benefits of our repeated, more active pranayama practices as we got our energy moving and transitioned from the colder months into spring!
I hope you are allowing yourself moments to notice and appreciate the gifts that come with this time of year.

When reflecting on my habit of taking zoomed-in shots of leaves and blooms around my garden, which I find quite calming and meditative, I noticed the thoughts that judge the unfinished garden beds, the parts full of weeds that I’d love to get to, the outdoor furniture and deck in need of a little TLC.
It reminded me of the variety of quotes that encourage us to take the time to appreciate nature and to be kind to ourselves in recognition of our own true nature, like this one attributed to Zen Shin:
“A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms”.
Something about paying such close attention to the natural beauty of the flowers; the droplets of water held on their surfaces; the depth of the red colour in the leaves of my favourite maple tree, right beside the tiny green leaf about to fully unfurl; and a bunch of dead leaves from last season caught in the branches just behind them — seeing their true nature somehow brings me closer to remembering and feeling my own.

Another thing I have been tending to this last week is taking care of myself and my grief.
As some of you already know, one of our family dogs was unwell. I thought we had a few more weeks with her, but that was not to be. In the early hours of Wednesday morning, we had to say goodbye to our beautiful girl, Oreo. She was just over 16 years old, so we were incredibly blessed to have her for all that time.
Grief is such a crazy, multilayered and unpredictable journey, and it touches us all in many different ways. It is so connected to all of the grief and loss we have experienced before — in this lifetime, in utero, passed down to us from our parents, and maybe even before that — bringing much of it back to the surface.
It is not something to be pushed away or hidden. I am grateful that the timing allowed me to spend this time processing some of that.
This photo is of Oreo and her half-brother, Abraham. This is usually my view when I look down from my home yoga space. He’s the one with the loud snoring you will still hear if you attend my online Thursday morning class.
I had my first class without Oreo last Thursday. She had always been right there with me since I started teaching online classes in 2020. I got a little teary when I shared the news with the class, as it was all still so fresh.
I did consider rescheduling the class in case I cried. I’m the teacher and I’m supposed to be holding space for you…
But then I reminded myself that just because I cry while in the role of a teacher, it does not negate my ability to be a good teacher.
In fact, my teachers and mentors who have touched my heart the most and allowed me to gain a deeper and more real perspective of life are those who not only shared their light, knowledge and wisdom, but also their humanity.
Crying and grief are simply part of being human, and part of life. They are things we cannot – and perhaps are best not to – avoid, nor do we need to be ashamed of.
“Grief never truely ends, but it gently changes. It is a quiet passage you walk through, not a permanent place to live. It is never a sign of weakness – it is simply the beautiful, heavy price we pay for loving deeply.”

Nervous System Reset Offerings:
“What are they?” you might be asking? Well, they are my Awaken & Restore mini retreats, my Early Morning Intensives; I offer early in the New Year and NOW my Sound Frequency Journeys. All of these experiences are designed to help you to slow down, deeply relax and feel more embodied and connected to your true nature.
I mentioned in my last newsletter that I was now a certified Sound Frequency Therapist. I had such a great time sharing a short Sound Journey at the end of our last Awaken & Restore Workshop in July, which was sold out! I received so much amazing feedback from those who attended. I’m greatly looking forward to offering you a full Sound Frequency Journey very soon. I will have an update with dates for all of these offerings as I lock them in. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and express your interest. Spaces will be very limited.
A little about my Sound Frequency Journeys:
I create a soundscape with many live instruments including Crystal and Himalayan bowls, a grand father overtone flute from Peru, a beautiful Rav Vast tongue drum, my voice through Vedic and melodic chanting and toning, some Heola chimes and more.
When the body receives intentional sounds and vibrations, whether it be through live instruments, voice or music, it has the power to shift something within us — to soften, settle, awaken or move us, sometimes in ways we can feel but don’t necessarily have words for.
My intention for my sound offerings is for my participants to leave feeling grounded, lighter, and with more belief in their own capacity to transmute and move through, with grace, all that we are taking in and experiencing through our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual selves at this time on the planet.
Special for newcomers:
I will again offer the special 3 class trial pass for $59*. This is for newcomers to SunYoga only.
*(to be used with in 4 weeks – not valid for workshops or sound journeys .)
I hope to share some of my offerings with you soon. See what resonates!
Namaste,
Lisa
